Wayne Rooney is to be rested against Slovakia tonight as Roy Hodgson takes a gamble that the playmaker as well as other key members are not required to secure at least a point in tonight's game.
Rooney, Kane, Alli, Walker, Rose and Sterling will be given a breather making way for Henderson, Wilshere, Clyne, Bertrand and strikers Sturridge and Vardy who proved such effective substitutes in the Wales match.
It may be considered risky to start both Wilshere and Henderson given their respective fitness issues before the tournament. Yet most surprising of all will be the omission of Rooney when it was felt he would benefit from more matches in a relatively unfamiliar position before, England hope, they face elite opponents in the knockout rounds.
Slovakia will be playing for a point to secure qualification and so will focus on defense and to try and break up England play. William Hill are stand out best price on 0-0 tonight at odds of 6.5
England will be looking for the win in the hope of securing a weaker opponent in the next round. Paddy Power are top price on Vardy to score at 3.25. Sturridge is also top price at Paddy Power, again at 3.25
