This is Albania’s first appearance in the European Championship and realistically, not much is expected of this side. Expect the Albanians to use a compact formation that tries to limit its opponents chances as much as possible. If Albania can pick up a result or two in the group stage, this tournament would be considered a massive success.

Austria will be looking for a record finish this competition, they have had an incredible qualifying campaign winning 9 out of 10 games. They have some real quality in the form of Fuchs and Marko Arnautovic. Expect qualification at the very least.

Despite being drawn in the 'Group of Death', big things are expected from Belgium. Top of the FIFA rankings until April and second only to Argentina now, Belgium have been named by many pundits as potential European champions. With a team packed full of quality including including Kevin de Bruyne, Mousa Dembele, Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and the on fire Eden Hazard who can fault them. Odds of 12 to win looks like value, especially each way.

Croatia have young potential game-changers like 21-year-old Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovačić and 19-year-old Barcelona loan player Alen Halilović who will likely come on late in the match against tiring defences. Mandžukić is finding form again and Brozović and Perišić are playing the best football of their career at Inter Milan. Add to this potentially potent mix the star quality of Luka Modric and Croatia look like contenders. They have had a decent qualifying campaign but the key will be can their big players step up for the big occasion or will they go missing like many of them did during the World cup in Brazil. A real wild card, it will be a brave but possibly savvy bettor that backs them to win each way.

Since Spain is considered very likely to progress from this stage, and with a fierce competition for second to be set between rivals Croatia and Turkey, it will take a dynamite showing from the Czech team to get past this first Group stage. Petr Cech is one cap away from having the most appearances for his nation and will captain his side after a fantastic season in goal for Arsenal, the Premier League runners up.

A 100% win record in qualifying see England go fourth favourites behind only France, Germany and Spain. A changing of the guard may remove the mental block that has plagued England for so long, and what a changing of the guard it is. Dele Alli can control the ball like the best and can dictate the tempo of the game, combining this with the potentially devastating strike partnership of Vardy and Kane up front could make England look very powerful up front. Eric Dier is shaping up to be an great defensive midfielder giving stability to Englands attacking play. This team looks more exciting than the golden generation that came before it. Betfred are refunding money back if you bet on England to win the Euros and they get knocked out on penalties (again). Given they have lost on spot kicks in six major tournaments since 1990 and Betfred are best price at 10, it looks like a great bet.

The Tournament favourites look to have lucked out with a nice draw in Group A. This team has a good mix of youth and experience with Pogba and Anthony Martial leading the new wave and stalwarts like Patrice Evra solidifying the back line. Ateltico Madrid's star forward Antoine Griezmann can power France's title challenge if he stays on form (he has scored 32 goals in all competitions this season). Expect big things....

Germany have faltered a little since winning the World cup in 2014. They have proved they are beatable and there is a lack of experience in the full-back positions with Cologne’s Jonas Hector on the left and and Matthias Ginter of Borussia Dortmund, Antonio Rüdiger of Roma or Liverpool’s Emre Can. That said they have drawn an easy group and will be looking for 3 wins from 3. Manuel Neur is one of the best keepers, if not the best goalkeeper in the World and they have a coach who knows what works. With their history of winning and amazing self belief its understandable to see them as second favorites in this competition. Even so, with odds at a maximum of 5.0 for them to win the tournament, value arguably lies elsewhere.

A country with a rich footballing history, Hungary have been absent from major tournaments for far too long now. They will however be attending Euro 2016, having knocked out Norway 3-1 on aggregate in the playoffs and due to the extension in the number of teams. Previous Premier League names are in their squad, including former Palace goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly and Fulham midfielder Zoltan Gera, but it’s their captain Balazs Dzsudzsak that needs to turn up this Summer for them to have any decent chance of getting through their group.

Iceland have not one but two managers, both of whom have overseen a revolution in Icelandic tactics strengthening their defense. Iceland only conceded 6 goals during qualification. A huge outsider but they have every chance of qualification with the impressive Gylfi Sigurdsson as their playmaker. They also have the experience of former Chelsea man Eidur Gudjohnsen.

Northern Ireland have never been to the Euros before but topped their group in qualifying having finished above Romania and Hungary. Italy are notoriously slow starters at tournaments and this might prove their undoing in a group which will punish even quality teams running at 100% from the get-go. They have the leadership and experience of the great Gigi Buffon as well as some decent forwards in the shape of Pelle and El Shaarawy. However they are lacking confidence and this showed when they were humbled by Germany in a friendly recently crashing out 4-1. Getting past the group stage represents a challenge.

Since losing to Scotland in March 2014, the Poles have lost just once (the reverse fixture in Germany, admittedly) and recently chalked up impressive victories over fellow tournament hopefuls Czech Republic and Iceland. Aside from Ronaldo, they possess arguably the best European striker in Lewandowski and right now he is on fire scoring 13 times in the 10 qualification games. The team gel exceptionally well, Poland might be the dark horse yet.

Ronaldo has scored 56 times for his country and the team have been given a decent draw against Hungary, Iceland and Austria. However without Ronaldo they aren't the same team, as was seen in Brazil. Also they only managed to score 11 goals in eight qualification games, against teams like Albania and Armenia. Ronaldo should be able to carry them thought the group stages and possibly the last 16 but a run past the quarter finals is a huge ask.

Ireland have plenty to choose from up front with Keane, Long and particularly Walters all in form. They beat Germany 1-0 during the qualification which will fuel optimism after a tough qualification battle. However in a group that also contains Belgium, Italy and Sweden its going to be all uphill for Ireland to get past the group stages.

Romania conceded only 2 goals during qualification and were unbeaten. Defence remains their strength. We won’t have to wait long to see how that defence measures up with the team facing the host nation France in the tournament’s opening match on June 10. A win over Albania and a draw against France or Switzerland may be enough to get out of the group stage

Grouped with England, Wales and Slovakia, Russia face a tough battle to qualify from the group stages. However, with the four best third-placed teams also qualifying for the knockout stages, Russia know that one win could be enough to see them through. After a shaky start to qualification that saw coach Fabio Capello leave, CSKA Moscow manager Leonid Slutsky took charge of the national team on a part-time basis while still managing his club. Four straight victories secured qualification, but it remains to be seen whether the changes in playing style will help or hurt Russia in the tournament.

Slovakia have been drawn in Group B with England and Wales. Despite the fact they’ve been tipped to finish bottom of the group, they have enough talent in their side to cause an upset. Marek Hamsik has had another consistent season for Napoli and scored five goals during the qualifying campaign. Liverpool’s Martin Skrtel is the Slovakia captain so will be very familiar with the likes of Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney

Spain do not quite have the allure of four years ago, with advancing years and a recent lack of form in friendlies. Costa and an improving Torres have been left our of the side leaving Alvaro Morata, the Juventus striker as favourite to lead up front. Aside from a shock loss against Slovakia, Spain won the rest of their games, scoring 23 times and keeping eight consecutive clean sheets. They go into the competition as third favourites with an embarrassment of riches in midfield and defence. Busquets, Iniesta and De Gea are all incredible talents at the top of their respective games. They could go all the way, though if Morata gets injured they could be a little light on firepower.

You cant talk about Sweden without talking about Ibrahimovic. Ibrahimovic is the reason the team qualified scoring 3 of the 4 goals to beat Denmark 4-3 on aggregate and he has since predicted that Sweden will win the competition. More positive thinking will be needed this June if Sweden are going to fulfil Ibrahimovic’s outlandish prediction in France. He will need all of his considerable skills for the team to come out through the group of death.

Switzerland finished just behind England in Group E qualifying scoring 24 times in those 10 games. They have a kind enough draw and a depth in squad to make some real progress. However they are a little light on quality up front, particularly if Breel Embolo does not participate in the competition. The young striker is considered one of Europe's top emerging talents.

Turkey are a good team filled with good players but they have an incredibly tough job to get past Spain, Czech Republic and the very underrated Croatia. They had gone 13 games unbeaten before a narrow friendly defeat to England in May, this after a dreary start to their campaign.
They had begun with defeats to Iceland and Czech Republic, followed by a draw in Latvia; results picked up thereafter but it was not until a stunning 3-0 win over the Netherlands was followed by a 2-0 victory in Prague that they really pulled it out of the fire. Turkey now enter Euro 2016 full of momentum, if only the draw had been kinder to them.

Ukraine have great pace on the wings with Yarmolenko and Konoplyankaand which should give Northern Ireland some difficulty. However the squad lacks depth and with Germany expected to win this group, they will have to compete with Poland for second place and they don't have a player of Robert Lewandowski's quality to count on.

The Welsh navigated a qualifying group containing Belgium, Israel and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Only Spain, England and Romania leaked fewer goals in qualifying and that trio progressed from far easier groups.
In Bale they possess one of the greatest footballers on the planet, if he is at his best along with Aaron Ramsey and the underrated Ashley Williams then it is very possible that this side could win their group and progress deeper than most would possibly suspect. It all hinges on that game against England on June 16th.
