Bulgaria v Netherlands Preview by FootballTipsNL

My home country The Netherlands are travelling to Bulgaria this Saturday and it will be another very important game for the Dutchies who are currently ranked 2nd in group A of the World Cup 2018 Qualifications. Bulgaria are ranked 4th but if they can manage to beat "Oranje" they will move to 3rd or even 2nd, with The Netherlands dropping to 3rd. This would be a disaster knowing that they still have to travel to France for a very difficult away game in this group.

The Netherlands looked fully fit at the beginning of this week but since then many players had suffered some small injuries or illness. However most importantly is that Arjen Robben looks very fit. He's in great form for Bayern again and he is incredibly important for this squad. You only have to remember the World Cup back in 2010 where The Netherlands finished 2nd after Spain, with a very average squad but a Robben in top form.

A message that just came in is that Vincent Janssen has picked up an illness so he won't be travelling to Bulgaria, which means it's very likely Bas Dost will play as striker. Not bad knowing he netted 24 goals in 23 games at Sporting SP. Without the illness of Vincent Janssen surely manager Danny Blind would have gone for him but if you look at match fitness I think we can be happy with this.

We don't know much about Bulgaria but one thing is sure .... the difference in quality between these two squads is huge. With Bas Dost as target man and Arjen Robben on the right, Memphis Depay on the left, I think "Oranje" looks solid in front. On midfield we also have several decent players to choose from. Wijnaldum, Sneijder, Klaassen and Strootman all look likely to feature. The defence is likely to be Daley Blind on the left with Stefan De Vrij and Hoedt in the centre who are both doing well in Italy. On the right we have Rick Karsdorp to complete the defence. The only goalkeeper that plays consistently is Jeroen Zoet as Jasper Cillessen almost never plays at Barcelona, and Tim Krul who has only just started to play matches at AZ Alkmaar.

So many players play in leagues outside The Netherlands. I think The Netherlands will play with only 2 or 3 Dutch Eredivisie players so everything looks good to me. Add to the fact that it's also a very important game for the Netherlands I am confident they will finally show some of their class so we don't have to miss another big tourney in the Summer!
